Shooting Stars LGBTQIA+ Netball Club
PURPOSE
The Shooting Stars LGBTQIA+ Netball Club (Perth Shooting Stars, club) aims to provide a safe, welcoming, and friendly environment for LGBTQIA+ people and allies to play Netball, and to promote inclusion within sport and sporting venues in Perth.
This Code of Conduct exists to ensure a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for all members. To achieve this, Perth Shooting Stars requires certain standards of behaviour of members, coaches, officials, administrators and spectators. The Code of Conduct is underpinned by the following core values:
• To act within the rules and spirit of Netball
• To display respect and courtesy towards everyone involved in netball, demonstrating good sportsmanship and preventing discrimination, bullying and sexual harassment.
• To prioritise the safety and well-being of everyone involved in netball.
• To encourage and support opportunities for participation in all aspects of Netball.
By participating in the Perth Shooting Stars , you agree to uphold these values.
REPORTING ISSUES AND SUPPORT
Members who experience or witness a breach of the Code of Conduct are encouraged to report it to the club's designated welfare officer or committee member. All reports will be handled confidentially and in line with the club’s disciplinary procedures (Perth Shooting Stars Constitution – Disciplinary Action). The club is committed to creating a safe space where all concerns are taken seriously.
CODE OF CONDUCT
1. Members review and uphold this Code of Conduct.
2. Members review and uphold the rules of the centre(s) and league(s) in which they play.
3. Members agree to remain financial by paying invoices on or before the due date. If unable to do so, members are encouraged to contact the Treasurer to discuss payment arrangements. Failure to make payment or arrangements may result in being unable to play until resolved.
4. Members recognise that when wearing Perth Shooting Stars uniform or merchandise, they will represent the club positively and abide by the Code of Conduct.
5. Members are required to represent the Perth Shooting Stars with respect and positivity at all club events, including games, training, and social gatherings. To keep our club's reputation strong, behaviour that could be seen as harmful, violent, aggressive, or offensive to others is unacceptable.
6. During all club events, members are expected to actively welcome and support everyone, ensuring a sense of belonging for all.
7. Members must be respectful to all members of the Perth Shooting Stars, other clubs, associations, teams, other individuals, and groups with which the club has a relationship.
8. Members must prioritise the safety, well-being, and comfort of others both on and off the court. Any behaviour that deliberately, recklessly, or inappropriately endangers, harasses, or pressures other members, whether physically, emotionally, or socially, is unacceptable.
9. Members should not use social media or public forums to raise issues or complaints in a way that could damage the reputation of Perth Shooting Stars. Any public statements made while representing the club should align with its values of respect, inclusion, and sportsmanship.
10. Use of Perth Shooting Stars uniform and branding is acceptable on social media platforms where the club, members, and its values are represented positively.
11. Members must be mindful of the safety and welfare of other members on and off the court and not engage in behaviours that deliberately or recklessly endanger other members.
12. Only the Perth Shooting Stars Committee and those specifically authorised by the Committee may engage in discussions of a commercial or strategic nature on behalf of the club or otherwise enter or suggest that the club may enter any legally binding arrangement.
13. Members must use all reasonable efforts to deal with personal issues in a manner that does not interfere with club or team morale or otherwise affect the ability of the club to engage in the activities for which it was established.
14. Members must not participate in training or games while under the influence of illicit drugs or alcohol. If a member's behaviour raises a suspicion of intoxication, the club reserves the right to prohibit participation.
